Liyan Song (宋丽妍）

In December 2023, I moved to Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) as Associate Professor. In December 2019, I joined Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) as Research Assistant Professor. In March 2019, I joined the University of Birmingham as Research Fellow. I obtained my PhD degree from School of Computer Science of the University of Birmingham under the supervision of Prof. Xin Yao (co-supervised by Dr. Leandro L. Minku). Previously, I received my BSc and MSc degrees from School of Mathematics of Harbin Institute of Technology.

Research Interests

• data stream learning, verification latency, class imbalance learning, label noise, ensemble learning, unsupervised learning, and Bayesian regression with small data
• applications of the above to predictive software engineering such as software defect prediction and software effort estimation.

Openings: We are opening to MSc, PhD students and visiting students working on those topics who are good at coding and/or math.

• March 2024 Congratulations to Shuxian for her paper "Multi-class Imbalance Classification Based on Data Distribution and Adaptive Weights" accepted in the top journal IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering (TKDE) after a three-year trek!
• March 2024 Congratulations to Zixin for his first paper "Addressing Intermediate Verification Latency in Online Learning Through Immediate Pseudo-labeling and Oriented Synthetic Correction" accepted in the International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN), which will be held during 30 June 30 - 5 July 5 2024 in Japan!
